When I saw these bags by Orynay, I did a double take. What a blatant ripoff of iconic Gucci and Givenchy designs, no? And at the $200 – 500 price point these “inspired” handbags are not exactly cheap. There are so many other original bags (think Marc By Marc Jacobs, Kooba, Botkier) in that price range that these are a definitely DON’T!

To commemorate the 90th anniversary of Gucci and the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, Frida Giannini (creative director of Gucci) collaborated with Fiat to design the 500 by Gucci auto. The price tag starts at 17,000 Euros. Besides the car, the 500 by Gucci collection will feature travel accessories, small leather goods, driving shoes, tracksuits, bombers, driving gloves, sunglasses and watches. Available exclusively at Gucci boutiques and online beginning April 2011.

Gucci is my all time favorite handbag designer. Their designs just speak to me and are epitome of what a luxury handbag should be! In my Gucci collection I have the clutches, the exotics, the evening bags, the Jackie, the Boston, the D ring, the totes…but I admit…I’ve been bored…and gasp..I haven’t bought a new Gucci bag in about a year and a half! (That IS constraint for me). Gucci hasn’t shown anything fresh enough IMO that I don’t already own and to make me whip out my credit card and say “yes please”. Until now… just look at this bag – WOW! I’ve always loved the Sukey but felt it was too similar to my D-ring and Boston styles. But this is SCRUMPCIOUS and in the most yummy shade of pale mauve!!! Par-fay for the spring and summer!! And I can assure that Guccissima leather is nearly indestructible! No small bag is this, the dimensions are approx 12″x17″x6″. $1515 at Neiman Marcus.

You all know of my love for Gucci. I have had a lot of different designer bags over the years… Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, YSL, Fendi, Prada, etc. but I always come back to my first love! What I love about Gucci bags are their fresh designs which are classic and trendy at the same time. But what REALLYdraws me in is their quality, especially their Guccissima leather bags. When I tell you these bags are indestructible – I mean it! I use my Guccissima leather bags every day. I don’t baby them and I have a 5 year old son who has done everything from stepping to spitting on them. Result? They look just as good as the day I bought them. The same cannot be said for my other designer bags. So when I saw this little clutch my first thought was what a steal… At $345 this is the perfect little clutch to take for a night out on the town, it will last you forever and never go out of style. Buy this and you will never need another. And really at this price it is a steal for Guccissima leather! Enjoy at Neiman’s.

Gucci that is, and their fall winter 2010 bags are TDF!!! This looks like a collection I would design if I could live out my greatest fantasies dreams. Lots of retro, a return to the old GG logo, black diamond fabric, signature web detailing, a Boston with a strap (!)… I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves…. …really bad. Yes after my beloved Jackie purchase I said I was on an (expensive) bag ban for the rest of the year. Well, that lasted until Gucci dangled this gorgeousness in front of me during their presale. I’ve been wanting a black satchel bag forever and at 40% off, I just HAD to. I really tried to be good, I even looked at other brands to economize. I briefly considered the Louis Vuitton Trivoli, Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Bag and Marc by Marc Jacobs Baby Aiden Satchel… but at the end of the day NOTHING wins my heart like Gucci! So I may be working until I’m 80, but at least I’ll have some gorgeous bags!
